Our role in society

Energy heats homes. It cooks food. It keeps people moving and connected. It helps build and shape the world around us.
At Enbridge, we deliver the energy that fuels quality of life.

Enbridge is a leading North American energy infrastructure company. We safely connect energy supply to the continent’s best markets through our four core businessesliquids pipelines, natural gas pipelines, gas utilities and storage, and renewable energy—providing the energy that’s critical to everyday life and drives our economy.

We’ve evolved to meet growing global energy needs—delivering the energy mix of today and tomorrow, and helping to meet those needs in ways that are ethical, sustainable and socially responsible.

The work we do creates well-paying jobs in towns and cities. It generates tax revenue to build schools, hospitals and roads. It stimulates local economies. It provides grants and volunteer labor that strengthen communities.

Headquartered in Calgary, Canada, with major offices in Houston, Duluth, Edmonton, Toronto and Chatham, our more than 12,000-person team brings enthusiasm and ingenuity to work every day in support of this mission.

Above all else, we aim to make a difference, economically and socially—as an industry leader, as a responsible corporate citizen, as an exceptional employer.

Because life takes energy, and we deliver it.

Our sustainability goals

Sustainability is integral to our ability to safely and reliably deliver the energy people need and want. How well we perform as a steward of our environment, a safe operator of essential energy infrastructure, and a diverse employer is directly linked to our success.

Our environmental, social and governance (ESG) goals represent the next stage of our evolution as an ESG leader to ensure we’re positioned to grow sustainably in the coming decades.

Enbridge’s ESG goals include:

  • Net zero greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions by 2050; with an interim target to reduce GHG emissions intensity 35% by 2030
  • Increased representation* of diverse groups within our workforce by 2025 including a goal of 28% from Racial and Ethnic groups, along with new initiatives to enhance supplier diversity
  • Strengthening diversity on our Board with a goal of 40% representation of women and 20% of Racial and Ethnic groups by 2025
  • Annual safety and reliability targets that drive continuous improvement towards our goal of zero incidents, injuries and occupational injuries, and implementation of robust cyber defense programs

Enbridge and North America's energy value chain

Although we don’t participate in every stage, Enbridge plays multiple key roles in the continental energy value chain, including transmission, storage, gas distribution and renewable power generation. The energy we move helps to heat homes, feed families, fuel vehicles, power industry and benefit society in thousands of ways.
